Modelshop & Painting Master Craftsman

You will have at least 10 years experience in a modelshop or rapid prototyping environment. You are a passionate and great teacher. Someone who is looking for a huge adventure in China. You will know polishing, painting, silk-screen printing, colour matching, detailing, and possibly even Vacuum Casting of Polyurethanes and RIM.

STAR has 20 guys in the modelshop that have mostly already been trained to a good level of craftsmanship. Most are graduates of a Polytechnic and some have come to STAR from other modelshops. They were trained by an American Master Craftsman to do polishing, painting, detailing, silkscreening etc. It is now necessary to take their skills to a whole new level.

You will join a small dedicated team of foreigners that has come to China to teach young Chinese people western skills. No need to speak Chinese. We will provide you with a 1,000 ft2 apartment on a secure living garden (gated community). We guarantee you will have the time of your life.

Metrology Master Craftsman & Inspector

You will have at least 10 years experience in Metrology. You are a passionate and great teacher. Someone who is looking for a huge adventure in China. You will have extensive knowledge in the field of measuring precision machined and/or 3D components. You will understand threads, gears, and splines. You should know how to use a CMM, bore micrometers, thread gauges, surfometer, optical projector, the full range of micrometers and calipers. You may know how to use a FARO Laser Scanning Arm – but that can be learned quickly.

You will know how to prepare inspection reports and possibly even do PPAP reports. You will have experience of ISO9000 and related standards. STAR has 4 inspectors, we operate a wide range of equipment and have spent around USD 250,000 so far on metrology equipment.

Metallurgy Master Craftsman

You will have at least 10 years experience in Metallurgy. You are a passionate and great teacher. Someone who is looking for a huge adventure in China. You will have extensive knowledge in the field of metallurgical testing, non-destructive testing and destructive testing. You will know how to create inspection reports and may have worked in a strict certified company.

STAR has just purchased a USD 70,000 Optical Emissions Spectrometer OES machine from Oxford Instruments: http://www.star-prototype-portugues.com/services/inspection/oes-metallurgical-testing. We intend expanding our ability of provide customers with test reports.
